Our mission is to deliver long-term investment returns to support the mission of the Mastercard Foundation – one of the largest foundations in the world.

The Mastercard Foundation works with visionary organizations to advance education and financial inclusion to enable young people in Africa and Indigenous youth in Canada to access dignified and fulfilling work.
MFAM was created to build a diversified investment portfolio for the Mastercard Foundation. MFAM is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We have a global investment strategy and mandate to deliver returns that will fund the philanthropic mission of the Mastercard Foundation and the work of its partners in Africa and Canada over the long term.
ESG Framework
Our Guiding Principles
Investing and collaborating with like-minded investors is important to achieving the Mastercard Foundation’s long-term goals. While generating strong, long-term financial results is MFAM’s primary goal, environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles will guide our underwriting, analyzing and monitoring of the Mastercard Foundation’s investments. MFAM will embrace the values inherent in the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment in our diligence processes to make more informed, responsible and socially conscious investing decisions.
MFAM will actively engage with third-party managers on ESG principles. We expect third-party managers to be open and willing to engage on ESG considerations and include such considerations in their investment processes. Specific investment guidelines, including ESG-related factors, will govern all directly held investments, which MFAM will regularly monitor and report on in accordance with the investment management agreement.
